The Situation

Micah McDermott started his own roofing business, Premier Plus Storm Team, in Hiawatha, IA in 2010. Micah said he noticed that roofing companies in the area were not delivering good customer service, which motivated him to grow his business. At first, he tried door-to-door knocking, distributing printed handouts, and cold calling but those methods were not successful enough so he decided to try direct mail with PostcardMania.

The Solution

PostcardMania designed a visually appealing 6 x 8.5 inch postcard that included:

  • A QR code for easy access to their website
  • A strong call to action in bold colors to elicit a response
  • A five-star review from a happy customer on the back of the card to help increase trust with the prospect
  • An offer for $500 off a service

The postcard also included a photo of the recipient’s home using PostcardMania’s Google Street View service. This feature personalizes the postcard through Google Maps images and helps grab the prospect’s attention with a photo of their own house.

Premier Plus Storm Team mailed 21,000 postcards to homeowners in the Hiawatha, IA area who would most likely need their roofing services. They also mailed the postcards right after a storm hit to strategically target people who would need a new roof quickly. These postcards were mailed out lightning fast so that they were the first company to land in prospects’ mailboxes.

The Results

They generated over $200,000 in revenue!

The direct mail campaign produced outstanding results, and resulted in 9 sales which generated more than $200,000 in revenue! Their ROI also amounted to over 1,200%.
